Recognising the Best in Engineering

The IES/IEEE Joint Medal of Excellence Award

The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) intend to present the 8th IES/IEEE Joint Medal of Excellence Award in 2017.

The aim of the award is to promote engineering as a profession and to recognize an individual for his/her contributions in Engineering that have had far-reaching impacts on society.   The award is expected to inspire the young to take up engineering as a profession.  This award is highly prestigious and the recipient will be recognized not only in Singapore but also the region and around the world.

Award Information

A recognition of an individual for his/her contribution in the fields of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Systems, Management and/or related fields, which have made a great beneficial impacts on society. The recipient shall receive the IES/IEEE Joint Medal of Excellence at the awards ceremony during the IES Annual Dinner.

  • Er. Prof Hang Chang Chieh, Professor of National University of Singapore
  • Mr Wong Ngit Liong, President and CEO of Venture Corporation Ltd
  • Mr Seah Moon Ming, Deputy CEO ST Engineering Ltd
  • Er. Lim Soon Hock, Founder and Managing Director of PLAN-B ICAG Pte Ltd
  • Prof. Chong Tow Chong, Provost of Singapore University of Technology and Design
  • Prof Er Meng Hwa, Vice President for International Affairs and Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Nanyang Technological University.

Eligibility

The nominee must be working in Singapore, preferably for the past 3 years.


Criteria

The award shall be based on significant achievements and outstanding contributions not limited to the following areas: Research and Development, Industry, Education, and Professional services.


Procedure

Nominations are invited from all eligible candidates. Each nomination should be submitted on the IES/IEEE Joint Medal of Excellence Award nomination form that can be downloaded from below.
