IEEE Singapore Festival 2020
This year, we celebrate the 11th annual IEEE Day across the globe on 6 October. In the spirit of IEEE Day 2020, we are delighted to host the “IEEE Singapore Festival 2020”. Beginning on 6 October, the festival, spanning two weeks, will include an all-virtual series of technical and professional talks, networking sessions, social activities, and fun contests.
This festival is jointly organised by the IEEE Young Professionals Singapore and IEEE Women in Engineering Singapore affinity groups.

Synopsis
The talk is about a general overview of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), the latest trends in different domains of IoT, and its future market potential. It also covers end-to-end components involved in creating a basic IoT solution with a real use-case.
Speaker
Dr. Syed Rizwan, Consultant – IoT, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Rizwan Syed graduated in 2001 from NED University Karachi Pakistan. He have been working on Product Design and Development from 2002 in the domain of Robotics, Embedded Systems, Hardware-Software Co-design. He later did his PhD from National University of Singapore in the area of Reconfigurable Computing / High Performance Computing. His reaserach involved designing a novel architecture to abstract hardware resources and how to manage them at runtime. Then he worked for Zimplistic Pte Ltd for the past 6 years and was part of the core team that made the Rotimatic which is the world first consumer flat bread maker. This product is IoT enabled and utilizes 06 Servo Motors, 04 Temperature Controlled Heaters and Machine Learning. The machine learning was patented. Later, he also lead the firmware, cloud and mobile teams. Now, he works for Amazon Web Services as an IoT Consultant to enable many companies and product get connected by assisting them both on the embedded domain as well as the cloud domain.
